Artist Stacie Ponder drew the following illustration of Saint Godard's church and the sinister lead hobo (played by Alice Cooper) at the request of Marc Pilvinsky, who has kindly sent us a copy for inclusion on the site.

It's a wonderful comic take on the character - you can check out more of Stacie's art at stacieponder.com and Slashers 101, Stacie's mini-comic which she describes as her "love letter to slasher movies". She's also written a hilarious review of Prince of Darkness which you can read on her blog, Final Girl.

You can request your own drawing of your favourite horror/slasher movie by contacting Stacie on her website.

We've collected 100 votes on our latest survey where we asked "Who is your favourite character in Prince of Darkness?"

poll results

It was pretty much neck and neck between Professor Birack and Father Loomis from day one. As you can see Birack won out by just one vote. Interesting parallel with the whole "science vs. religion" theme in the movie!

Next most popular was Walter at 14 votes proving that the movie really benefits from his light-hearted character and an injection of humour to lighten the mood. At 9 votes we have Catherine Danforth and just behind her at 7 votes is Lisa - rather surprising for a character who has so little screen time.

The rest of the team make up the remaining votes with some of the characters failing to garner any votes at all!

Thanks for voting everybody - now you can get voting on our new poll where we ask "Would you like to see a prequel/sequel/remake of Prince of Darkness or just have it left alone?

We spoke with actor Peter Jason a couple of months ago on the phone. Peter plays Dr. Leahy in the movie and proved to be great fun to talk with. He had some great anecdotes and insights into working in Hollywood over the years and his career today.

You can read the full interview here.

Our next interview is now online. Thom Bray, who plays Etchinson in Prince of Darkness was kind enough to answer some questions for us - you can read the interview here.

We've uploaded the entire script for Prince of Darkness - you can read it here.

According to some reports we've read, the edition of Prince of Darkness on the John Carpenter: Master of Fear- Four Film Collection features greatly improved picture quality. We've ordered our copy and will redo the gallery screen-grabs again if the quality is noticably better.

We're now using another layout for the galleries. The Gallery2 application which we had been using was a bit cumbersome - hopefully you'll find this new system quicker. We've also redone the screen-grabs so the picture quality is also better for all the gallery pictures currently online.

Yes it's been some time since our last update. Apologies for this but it's primarily due to pressures of college exams which just finished this week. The last three months were hectic and left little time for anything else, including this site. However, a long summer looms ahead and since it looks like I'll be unemployed for most of it (thank you recession), there'll be lots of free time to devote to the site!

We've been trying to organise more interviews for the site, and it looks like we may have some good ones coming up. We won't say who but if they happen, the people involved will have some more great insights and stories on the making of our favourite horror movie. Watch this space (no, really).

The multimedia section will also be getting some badly needed material and the gallery will be receiving an overhaul too. As always, if you've any ideas or suggestions for the site, let us know! We're always looking for ways to make the site bigger and better and we need your input.

Okay we've got some work to do. Check back very soon, updates are on the way. We promise.

We've reached 100 votes on our original survey where we asked you to rate Prince of Darkness. 100 seems like a nice round number to cap it off and begin a new survey so here's the break down of votes for the first one.

By far the most popular vote was "Not my favourite Carpenter movie but I like it a lot" which is a good result for fans of the movie. It's nice to see POD is becoming more highly rated amongst Carpenter fans.

Five of you haven't seen the movie yet (you don't know what you're missing! Amazon sell it for the ridiculously low price of 12 dollars).

A healthy 29% of you rate it as your favourite Carpenter movie. And just one of you proclaim it to be your least favourite. Cheeky beggar.

You can all now vote on our new survey where we ask "Who is your favourite character in the movie?"

It was with great sadness that we recently learned of the passing of Lisa Blount, who played Catherine Danforth in Prince of Darkness. Lisa was just 53 years old and died last October. She had suffered from a serious illness for the last 17 years and was living in Arkansas with her husband, producer Ray McKinnon. Although it's been almost four months since Lisa's death, we only learned of her passing yesterday so we post this for others who may also have been unaware. Our deepest condolences go to her family and friends. Rest in peace Lisa.

Last Friday (December 3rd) I spoke to Sandy King Carpenter, film producer and wife to director John Carpenter. We had a fascinating chat and Sandy gave us some great insights into the making of Prince of Darkness and on working in Hollywood. We're transcribing the interview at the moment and it should be up before the weekend, i.e. on or before December 10th.

Just a quick status on updates - we're currently in the process of organising our first interview for the site. We don't want to reveal who just yet but it's someone who will definitely have some great insights into the making of POD. Watch this space...

We'll also be uploading a new gallery system to replace the one in use at the moment. The Gallery2 application is just a tad cumbersome and slow for our purposes, so expect a new look gallery online within the next week which will be cleaner and quicker to load.

At the moment, the forum is alarmingly quiet! So if you haven't yet registered, why not head on over there now and say hello? A film as dense and layered as Prince of Darkness raises all kinds of questions and debate is always fun.

So in short, spread the word about the site and keep visiting. It's early days yet and we've got lots of plans in store. And, of course, we'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions too, so drop us a line.

Our forum is now online. It had been up and running previously when we launched the site but spammers were proving to be a big problem. We've added another security question to the registration page which seems to be doing the trick.

Added link to Horror's Hallowed Grounds guide to POD's filming locations! This is a particularly fascinating article for POD fans as it gives a "then and now" look at the locations used for the making of the movie.

jcpod.net launches.

Believe it or not we actually started this site as far back as 2005. After lots of redesigning and false starts, we finally decided to launch the site on August 31st 2010. Things are still a bit up in the air as we fine-tune things and finalise the design but we hope you like what you see so far and continue to support the site.

Please drop us a line if you have any suggestions for the site. We're open to all ideas and constructive criticism is welcome.

Thanks for visiting.
