Great film, great site (well done to all involved) a very underrated film in my humble opinion,it just proves that you dont need alot of money for over the top special effects and for overpaid "superstars" to make a great film, just a good script and good actors.

Hi all- Charlie Devoy here, nice to see the kind messages of support for John Carpenter (Prince of Darkness). It was John that inspired me despite my obvious disability to do great things for charity. He said "Charlie, you may have a very obvious disability- but you can still do so much for others worser off". I replied "Yes- thanks John". And that really started things for me. I hope to now raise £500.00 for the local animal hospital as they once took care of my pet squirell called Tony. Thanks & love to all- Charlie from Scotland * * *
A brilliant fan site, one of the best on the net.
I first saw POD a few years ago at a time when in my mid 20's thought that I'd seen all the scary movies (including most of Carpenter's other works) I was wrong.
The entire film has a sense of impending doom, and builds and boils to fantastic climax.
I found Susan Blachards acting to be excellent going from a sweet innocent girl and transforming into the devil incarnate. Certainly in my opinion one of if not the most frightening movie monster.
Very sad to hear the Lisa Blount had passed away.
I bought the region 2 dvd recently and listened to the commentary, perhaps not as insightful as I'd like but still with enough information to satisfy.
Very good site, keep up the good work.
Admin reply: Thanks for signing John, glad you like the site! We agree, possessed Susan is easily one of the most terrifying monsters in horror history.
I've loved this movie for over 20 years and think it has more atmosphere and intensity than about 98.2% of all today's "horror movies" put together. I always have thought the scene/frame where Alice and co. are first noticed by the team...the clenching of his fist, the dread gaze and the rest of them all looking either insane, murderous or totally vacant. Awesome * * *.
Admin reply: Thanks for visiting Steve. Yes the scene with Alice and the hobos is very menacing - a real foreboding sign of what's about to happen!
I graduated from h.s. the year this movie made. It's hard to believe it's been a 1/4 of a century since that's happened. How the time does fly. Ever since I had seen this movie when it was released, it does get one to think about probable so-called "impossibilities". There is a church that is just 4 streets down from where I live that has about as much appeal to me as the in the movie does, what makes it so unusual is that my aunt, grandmother and myself were brought up in manner in the belief of the Creator and sanctuaries where one is to learn about his 10 words and the teachings of the Son of Man. Yet, every time, I pass by it, it gives me an uneasy feeling just going by it or looking at it.
Admin reply: Thanks for your comment! Isn't it funny how a movie can have such an impact when viewed at a particular time?

Admin reply: Thanks for signing Luke, hope your girlfriend enjoys the movie!
I saw Prince in 1987 when I ws 18, and on the big screen again when I was 39, I loved it both times and it is my farorite John Carpenter film....
I recently travelled out side of Canada for the first time in my life aand took a trip to Los Angeles, I was able to track down the Church from Prince of Darkness and take some pictures....
to say I ws thrilled is an understatement,
it almost looks exactly the same as it did in 1987.
